Executing RCWinTrans 11 in parallel throws error

Hello Johanes,

something may be wrong with the installation of RC-WinTrans and/or components.
Also: Make sure the Window Feature ".NET 3.5 (2.0)" is enabled.

1)...
> after some seconds the application Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications - NetFilesConverter
> opens and an error message ...
>
"RWTResxConv.IRWTRESXConverter" is a COM object which cannot be created or is
not registered correctly in the Windows registry. The VBA editor opens for this reason.

Remove RC-WinTrans and install the Demo newly. Start the setup with "Run as administrator".

Then...
- Start RC-WinTrans normally (GUI) to check if all is OK. Open e.g. the .NET Sample
(Sample View) project, check "Update Database" and "Write Target File".

- Use the RC-WinTrans Command Line Editor to check the command line -- or PowerShell.
I cannot use VMWare to support you.

Hello Johannes,

when running parallel "/Update" processes there are (or can be) file access errors with no definitively identifiable cause. I'm unable to say when these problems can be solved.

I'm very sorry I cannot give you a better reply at the moment.

No. This does not work. The source assembly should not be obfuscated.

Check source file changes

Support
Support

Hello,

the CRC is not used any more to check if a source file is (or may have) changed -- since RC-WinTrans 11.
To check if a source file has changed the file's time stamp is used (only).

> Is there any way to only consider the CRC of the source file when making the check?
>
No. With RC-WinTrans 11, only the time stamp is considered.

Excel import

Hello lakuda,

the source text must match.
A translation can be imported only when the source text in the Excel table and the source text in the translation project is the same.

.
? -- I do not know your Excel document -- I do not know the content.
I think your Excel table may not have a column with the IDs/names of an item
and/or your try to import without item identifier (?).

Has your Excel table only two columns? Columns with source and target text only?

When you iniitially export an Excel document for translation then export also columns with:
- "Main resource ID/name"
- "Resource name/ID"
- "Source file name".

The Excel import/export is made for external translation of an Excel table exported
once before by RC-WinTrans -- exported with ID/name columns.

The name of an item (and the file name) ensures the translation can be assigned
uniquely to the item in the project when importing from the Excel file.

If you want, send me your Excel file/table so I can have a look at. -> support@schaudin.com

Install v11-Demo together with a v10

Support
Support
Administrator
Hello HeiWoMa,

You can but it is recommended to install the Demo on an other machine.

The setup for the V11 Demo will register common RC-WinTrans COM objects in the V11 installation folder.
This registered RC-WinTrans components from V11 will be used by RC-WinTrans 10 too because they can
be registered only once.

It works because the componets are compatible but when removing the RC-WinTrans 11 Demo you
will need to update the RC-WinTrans 10 installation to update also the component registrations back to RC-WinTrans 10.

Automatic machine translation

Hello Alex,

no. Machine translation (MT) via script or command line is not possible.

> It is a bit tedious to translation 50+ project with 100+ strings for 10 different languages
> if you have to click for each string.
>
You can use the MT to translate all items in a project at once -- for one target language at a time.

Two options via the GUI:

1. "Auto-Translate"
- start the MT
- use "Dictionary/TM" | "Auto-Translate" | "All (Entire Project)"

or

2. "Import from Dictionary"
- start the MT
- select all items to be translated (All: Ctrl+A)
- use "Dictionary/TM" | "Get Translation..."
- select the MT and press OK.

Spell Check Error in RC-WinTrans 11

Support

RC-WinTrans 11 users may encounter a problem with the internal spell checker: errors are indicated (by red-colored text in the Translation Edit bar) for words even when they are spelled correctly.

To resolve this issue, start RC-WinTrans once with the "Run as administrator" command:

RC-WinTrans desktop icon >> right-click with mouse to open local menu. Select the "Run as administrator" menu command.

Machine Translator May Fail on First Request

Support
Support
Administrator
The Machine Translator is initialized with the active/selected RC-WinTrans element and a translation is immediately requested.

The first translation request (where the HTTP is also initialized) can take a long time (approximately 30 seconds) and frequently fails to return a result. The behavior only occurs for the very first translation request. The GUI is not updated until the request is either finished or aborted. Trying again resolves the issue and successfully returns a translation (usually with a brief response time).

Writing to the standard output we have to fix first.

Error when adding .NET dll

Support
Support
Administrator
Hello lakuda,

"...we're asked to define the type"

It seems RC-WinTrans cannot identify the DLL as it is a .NET DLL.

Something is on with the DLL (?!) ... at least something is unusual for RC-WinTrans. Do you have an idea?

Try: Add an other (simple, test) .NET DLL to the project to see if is is still working.

Can you send me your .NET DLL for a check? To: support@schaudin.com

Q: Are you using a (newly installed) Windows 10? Maybe the Windows Feature ".Net 3.5 / .NET 2.0" is not enabled?
Then the appropriated RC-WinTrans component cannot work.
