Hello Pascale,

> ...the space is ignored and English string written as before.

This is not possible. The source text (yours: English) is not used when using at least one character ( a space) as translation.
I've checked it once again. It works. As translation the space is used in the target file.

Display dialogs as RTL for Hebrew

Displaying RTL and mirrored layout woks only when using an Hebrew or an Arabic Windows system.

It's because RC-WinTrans is not making own RTL displaying. To display the dialog in the editor
a Windows standard dialog is used. Therefor the ability to show a mirrored layout depends on the Windows system.

> I’m working on Hebrew and I have over 200 dialogs ...
>
Change the style an then use "Apply to all dialogs" to set the style for all ~200 dialogs.

Work with RC-WinTrans on an Hebrew machine of check at least the translated application on
on the appropriated target system

Command line Export Excel Error (161)

Hello ManuMalo,

check with version of the " ExcelImportExportAddOnV3.macro" loaded by your RC-WinTrans.

- start RC-WinTans
- open the "About" dialog and select the "Add-Ons & VBA Macros Files" tab
- the version of " ExcelImportExportAddOnV3" will be "3.2 Feb. 2014"

You should try it with a newer one. The latest is "3.4 (Jan 2015)"
I can send you the latest version.

I cannot reproduce right the error you get.
"Error (161): The VBA module "CommandLine" does not exist"
Maybe there is macro active/loaded by your RC-WinTrans prior to version "3.2"? -- a macro which does have the "CommandLine" module implemented (?).
Please check the version number of the " ExcelImportExportAddOnV3.macro" .

TBX support

Hello!

The RC-WinTrans TM Workbench application/add-on has an import for TBX.

To use a TBX file:
1. start the TM Workbench
2. create a new TM
3. import the TBX file

...then you have a TM (translation memory file) (.sdltm) you can use for translation in RC-WinTrans.

Your TBX file is a TBX type "TBX-Basic".

The RC-WinTrans TM Workbench 2.0 und 2.1 support only the TBX type="TBX". From a TBX type="TBX-Basic"
are no elements imported.

We have fixed this.
New RC-WinTrans TM Workbench version: 2.2.0.4

Error -2146824579 when opening project

Hello Pascale,

the french data for the file "ViewEventLogs.dll" are corrupt and cannot be fixed.

To restore your project (the data) you can do the following:

1. remove the file "ViewEventLogs.dll" from the project. Close/Reopen the project.
2. add the file newly to the project
3. - import the translations from the/a translated (fr) target file or
- import the (fr) data from a previous version/copy of your project

Note (!): Removing the file from the project removes also the data for other
target languages (!) in the project (for this file).
Make a copy of the current project to import the data for other languages
from this copy after the file has been added newly.

We can do this for you if you want: Send us your project database (.fsmdb), the source file "ViewEventLogs.dll" and the translated DLL. -> support@schaudin.com

Hello Irms,

the Excel import/export is now integrated to RC-WinTrans 11.

> I did notice the macro was renamed (ExcelImportExportAddOnV4.macro) but changing the command line taking that in account was not enough.
>
Yes. Do not use the macro file. Use the new (diect) command line commands (and not via add-on macro functions).

> Is a XLS created/used by version X8 compatible with /ImportExcel command from version 11?

Should be but I'm not sure if this is true for all X8 / add-on created/exported XLS files.
The command line command /ImportExcel is tested only with Excel files exported with RC-WinTrans 11.

Hello Irms,

it is a bug in the /ImportExcel command function.

To get /ImportExcel "working", at least for importing data for one source file, use the /srcfile parameter and speify the name of one source file in your project.
This works -- for importing data for the one specified source file in the project.

Example:
RCWinTrans.exe /ImportExcel projname.rwtproject /lang fr-FR /srcfile resfilename.rc /extfile "u:\test{\xt.xlsx -replace

The bug will be fixed in the next RC-WinTrans 11 service release -- next to the current May 2017 build vesion 11.0.0.24.

Executing RCWinTrans 11 in parallel throws error

Support

Hello Johannes,

> Are there known issues with this procedure?
No.

Note: A project database supports only single user access.
Maybe the problem comes by processing the project by multiple processes at the same time?

More specific for the error output...

> Error (404): The converter "NETFilesConverter. ConvNetAsm. XliffToFormatFile" returned exit code 53
>
This is the RC-WinTrans module which is processing (reading/writing) .NET assemblies. The function "ConvNetAsm" fails and returns with an error.
Could be a problem with loading one of your source files (a .NET assembly) (source file to be translated)
twice (by a second process). Maybe this failed at this time (?).

This are my first ideas.

Hello Johannes,

> our goal is to run RCWinTrans in parallel. Therefore, we were very pleased that the Release Notes of version 11 listed the following
> feature: "Multiple instances of RC-WinTrans 11 can be started.
>
This is correct. Multiple instances of RC-WinTrans can be started but a translation project should be entered/processed by only one "user" (process) at a time. Multiple access to a project is not supported.

Also: You are running an Update Database (/Update) changing the data in the database. At the same time /WriteTargetFile is used which requires valid and ready to use data (!).

> Error (105): The source file has changed. The target file "********. dll" cannot be written."
>
Maybe this error come because /WriteTargetFile does not find the data ready updated or not ready to access at this time.

You can start multiple instances of RC-WinTrans 11 but do not access one and the same project at a time. This is not supported.
Make your script is running /Update first. When ready: /WriteTargetFile

Hello Johannes,

This is a new information.
In your first posting you wrote:
"If I run the rwtproject file commands one after the other, everything works without a problem. "

Then we have to check running the update command only (!?).
Please clarify.

Is the update working when using the GUI (not the command line)?

> Are there any restrictions on demo.exe compared to the normal exe?
No. But: We've tested the command line only with the full version.

> Please post an example script (*.bat, *.ps1, ...) with which independent projects can be run in parallel.
>
Sorry, no example available.
To start two processes you can start e.g. two .bat files where each is starting an RC-WinTrans with an /Update command.

> We start the translation with the following commands:
> "RCWinTrans /Update /proj %PROJPATH% /long %TGTLANG% /log %LOGFILE%"

This is perfect (and simple) as sample and for testing. Does this produces an error?

> RCWinTrans uses system tools to convert from BAML to XAML.
> Could one of these tools cause ConvNetAsm to fail because they cannot be run in parallel?

An instance of RC-WinTrans is loading/using an own instance of a tool/module (like e.g. our BAML component).

Executing RCWinTrans 11 in parallel throws error

Hello Johanes,

I can reproduce the same error output ...

"User break: premature end.
Error (404): The converter "NETFilesConverter. ConvNetAsm. XliffToFormatFile" returned exit code 53.
Error (105): The source file has changed. The target file "********. dll" cannot be written."

The output is from /WriteTargetFile when two processes have started RC-WinTrans with /WriteTargetFile
for the same project and the files for the same target language. I have a .bat file started twice with a Windows command box.

Hello Johannes,

thank you for the details and for your testing.

We found the processing for .NET assemblies is not save when RC-WinTrans is running parallel.

The .NET module uses one and the same temporary folder. Extracting resources files out of a .NET assembly, as well as creating a .NET assembly (satellite DLL), a resource file has (must have) a specific resources file name and is not (cannot) named unique when placed in the temp folder. This causes (or can cause) conflicts.

We need to make the .NET assembly processing multi-processable.
