Very good Alex!
I'm happy you found a solution for your need to use the command line for importing.

Thank you for the reply.
I use a work around to solve this.
I export the translator database to an intermediate excel spreadsheet with the /ExportExcel command. I can then import from the spreadsheet with the /ImportExcel command and specifying the option -noid.

Hello Alex,

The command line /ImportProject does not have the option to ignore the IDs.

Hi,
I have some translator Databases that I need to import back into the master database from where they was exported.
The issue is that the master database has been reconfigured a bit, the source and target has been relocated.

When I try from a command line with a command like this:
RCWinTrans.exe /ImportProject /proj c:\work\main\Products\Source\Amelia\Core\Source\Tools\ZoneMappingTool\ZoneMappingUI\ZoneMappingUI.rwtproject /lang pl-PL /extproj "c:\work\main\Projects\DSP\Translation of MIKE Releases\2024.2\MUP\pl-PL\ZoneMappingUI-TranslatorProject.fsmdb" /extlang pl-PL -text -replace
it do not import the updated strings from the translator database.

However if I try to do it via the GUI it works fine

I suspect that it is due to the Ignore IDs that it works.
My questions is, how do I specify the Ignore IDs from the command line?

Best regards

Hello Alex,

Please ignore this message.
The VBA macro file "Empty1.macro" did not have any functionality and is not included any more when installing RC-WinTrans.

Hi
I just updated to RC-WinTrans 11 Professional version 11.5.87.889.
Now I get the following error message:
Error (213): The user macros file "C:\ProgramData\RC-WinTrans\Add-Ons\Empty1.macro" does not exist.
The file is not there, but everything seems to be working.
I am not sure on how concerned I should be about this error message.

Thanks for the help

.
In the screen shot the text is displayed in RTL (right-to-left reading order. It is displayed according to the RTL target language. This is correct.
.
In the data the text is (always) saved and shown in left-to-right order. This is correct. So it is saved in the database. It is not shown to the user.
.
Both is correct.

For some reason, the RTL issue happens only with strings that have either English+Farsi in them or Farsi+symbols. On the screenshot, the two upper strings are written incorrectly as targets, the two bottom strings are written correctly

Q1: what is the source language (source text, source file) ?

Usually, when the item is translated (to Farsi) it is not possible the item in the target file gets an other translation text.
Q2: Are all other items in the target file correctly with the Farsi translation text? Is it really only this item?

ToDo:
- Write/Create the Farsi target file once again.
- Check the date/time of the Farsi target file to be really written newly. Check the item's translation once again.

We are experiencing some further problems with writing targets in Farsi.
See that the selected string on the screenshot is properly translated

But in the target file we get it in French
<data name="DeviceFactoryParams_ModelDescription" xml:space="preserve">
<value>Modèle de l'appareil.</value>
</data>

Hello lakuda,

displaying the text in right-to-left reading order and/or right aligned text is done at run-time by the editor tool or the control showing the text. It is a display property. It is not a property of the text as saved in the database or in the translated target file.

Hello! We are experiencing a problem when writing targets in Farsi, mainly with strings that have both English and Farsi words in them. While in RC-WinTrans these strings look correct (correct word order), when we open target files, the word order is wrong, like RTL is not applied.
Translated:

Executing RCWinTrans 11 in parallel throws error

Hello AllexC,

maybe it is not the palalel processing (?). The "Update Database" process is the most expensive RC-WinTrans function in time, RAM usage and creating/using a huge amount of .Net objects, each wrapped as COM object.

You wrote:
- "...run the script from a command line: Each process does an update and writes the target files.."
- " Task Scheduler: it starts to fail"

The scheduler task priorities/resources could make the difference (?)
I do not know your project (MzChart_rc.rwtproject) but maybe it is size of this project and it would run with a smaller project (? )
Note: RC-WinTrans needs to load and hold all data (whole project) in memory while updating the project database.

Your questions
1) "Why cant WinTrans create the main windows.?"

I do not know. I think something is out of "resources" to create another main window with all its requirments (?).

2) "It cant be safe for running in parallel to have such a file all instances of RcWintrans is writing to?"

It is true, the log file is made for writing infos from/by a single application instance.
Also: The log file is placed in the installation folder where it usually can be written only when RC-WinTrans is started with "Start as administrator"
-- it is wrong the log file is in the installatin folder.
But: Opening and writing the log file is not forced and no error is created/thrown by RC-WinTrans if it is not possible.

Hi

I have been debugging this parallel problem a lot more the last week.
My OS is windows server 2012 R2 version 6.3 Build 9600
My RC-WinTrans version is 11.5.2.74 and I am using the new command line interface.

I have a script that runs two processes in parallel. Each process works on their own database so it is not multiple access to the same database, but running RCWintrans.exe in parallel and each instance of RCWintrans.exe has exclusive access to the database it is working on.
Each process does an update and writes the target files.

When I run the script from a command line it works fine and I can see the two instances of RCWinTrans running when I monitor it in Process Explorer, so this is as expected.

But when I try to run the script as a scheduled task it starts to fail. Then scheduled task has the feature "Run whether user is logged on or not" enabled. I see that it is the update that is failing. And when I am monitoring it in Process Explorer I can that the WerFault.exe is started so there is some error reporting going on.
From my log files I have some times see error messages like these:
=========

RCWinTrans.exe /Update /proj MzChart_rc.rwtproject /lang ja-JP -all /log C:\Users\MZSERV~1\AppData\Local\Temp\wtout_4908.log

There are different version of there Error Logs. some time it is ntdll.dll that is the Faulting module and I have also seen MSVCR100.dll as the faulting module.

Hope this can help you closing in on the problem.

By the way, forgot the tell I have made sure that each instance of RcWintrans.exe have its own temporary directory, I modify then TMP and TEMP environments variables before calling RCWintrans.exe to a unique directory.
edited by AlexC on 18.02.2021

just noticed this logfile : "C:\Program Files (x86)\RC-WinTrans\RC-WinTrans 11\LoggingFile.log" it had this error message:

Starting RC-WinTrans...Date: Thursday, February 18, 2021 Time: 15:20
ApcOleInit
InitATL
LoadSettingFromINIFile
CSftTree::RegisterApp
Creating document templates
Creating main frame window...
Error: Creating main frame window failed!
Exit.

To me that seems like several problems here. This gives at least 2 questions:
1) Why cant WinTrans create the main windows.?
2) It cant be safe for running in parallel to have such a file all instances of RcWintrans is writng to?

Hello kiroecke,

there is a bug we've fixed with RC-WinTrans Build 11.5.2.74.
The list view used in the export and import dialog is not correctly initialized -- this causes the crash.

Release Notes: http://www.releasenotes.schaudin.com/#Version_11_Release_Notes.htm
Issue: #92

Please download and install RC-WinTrans 11.5.2.
Version 11.5.0 must be deinstalled using the Windows "Remove Program".
